Abstract
Cognitive impairment is one of the most disabling sequelae among patients with TBI and it is frequently underdiagnosed, because of lack of simple test to measure cognitive performance in these patients. Researchers and clinicians currently assess neuropsychological changes with a large set of tests. The present article aims to determine the ability of each of these tests to evaluate the cognitive performance in patients with TBI compared to controls among Colombian population and to find the most sensible tests to simplify the assessment of cognitive impairment in these patients. The results showed that the executive function impairment was the most prevalent cognitive sequelae. The letters A and S scores had the greatest capacity to discriminate the cognitive performance between TBI patients and controls, which could be used as screening tests to easily detect cognitive impairment in TBI patients.
